[by telegraph.—press association.] • Gisborne, Monday.. | An important legal point concerning the service of notice under " the Shearers and Agricultural Labourers' Accommodation Act was decided by Mr. W. A. Barton, S.M., at the Magistrate's Court to-day. Frederick J. Lysnar,. sheepfarmer, was! charged. with ; failing to provide adequate, accommodation for sEearers. The inspector of awards, who prosecuted, said he forwarded a letter containing a notice in a registered letter. The defence was that the letter was not received, and that the I Act required that the notice be served either on the employer personally or by "j leaving the same at his usual or last known place of residence. The magistrate I held that the notice had not been served.! in accordance with the Act, and dismissed the information. ; . '
