NOTES AND COMMENTS. The Ponsonby Bowline Club has issued invitations for an "At Homo," which will bo held on the club's green, Jervois Road next Saturday afternoon. The Ponsonby Club's social gatherings are noted for their good-fellowship and the generous hospitality of tho members.
A meeting will be held next week of representatives from Auckland clubs affiliated with the Northern Bowling Association for the purpose of arranging local matters in connection with the forthcoming North Island tournament, which will be held in Auckland in January next. Mr. C. Wheeler L; convening the meeting. At a meeting of tho Executive Committee of the Auckland Provincial Bowling Association, held yesterday, an application for affiliation from the Karaugahake Club was received and granted. The question of holding home-and-home matches between the Auckland and Sou„li Auckland Associations was discussed at ■yesterday's meeting. The idea arose from a suggestion made by Mr. Bryden at Paeroa, and is being taken up by both associations, so that it is safe/ to assume that the matches will eventuate.
A unique bowling tour has been proposed and is now being considered. It is one that is most commendable, and the results, should it materialise, would be far-reaching. A suggestion has been made that the executive of the Auckland Provincial Bowling Association go on tour at the beginning of the year, visitinc the clubs of the Waikato and finally concluding the playing tour at Rotorua during the week's tournament which is held there. The fraternal feeling* prompting this tour are admirable, and would lead to a splendid understanding between the country club officials and the association's executive. The country club* would need to put strong rinks against th* visitors, for the executive are not of :ho "ornamental" class of official found in some sports. Messrs. J. Carlaw (president), Al. Casey (vice-president), A. M. Bryden (secretary), and E. A. Craig (treasurer) are a good combination, and capable of giving the beat rinks a good game. The entries for the Rocky Nook Club matches (championship] singles, pairs, and fours) will close next Saturday.
