MEETINGS .
UNITED THANKSGIVING- MEETING.. ■ Last evening in the Tabernacle a meeting was hold as a sequel to to great mission which closed in Auckland a fortnight ago. - In spite of the heavy rain, a large number of people were present. What the meeting lacked. in attendance was made up in enthusiasm. The Rev. Knowles Kempton pre- . sided. Mr. J. T. Leafe and the Revi \Vj:'f Gray Dixon gave addresses, reviewing the mission and giving some helpful 'counsel to ■the converts. Apologies ,were'received for the absence of Mr. J. W. Stewart and' the Rev. Howard Elliott. The united choir, M.'E. J. Gatland, conductor, and Mr. W. T. Sharp, organist, led the musical'portion of the service, and . a number of the favourite hymns of the mission were sung with much heartiness. At. a stage of ■ the meeting a large number of -converts and others who- 1 had received blessing during the. mission gave brief testimonies. It was unanimously '.-,. agreed to send a message of greeting to: Dr. Henry, who is now conducting '& united mis* . sion in Ohristchurch. ; •V. .. . OHINEMURI COUNTY COUNCIL. The ordinary monthly . meeting of the ( Ohinemuri •; County ■>. Council; was ; held yesterday afternoon. Mr. P. ( Grace presided. Tenders were accepted, as follows —Cutting road gallery in gorge at -Karangahake,'. T. Lupes, * £195; widening main road *in ■ the lower part 7of | gorge >at Karangahake, F. Butler, £65 -Is widening main road in gorge at Karangahake, near Woodstock damf, F. Butler, £92. Application was made by the Thames Valley Co-operative Dairying Company for the metalling of the NethertonTurua Road, to be completed, and it. was decided that tenders be called for the 'work: Messrs.vßehner and Yearbury waited on the * Council, with a request that Bonner's bridge at Waikino, that was ; washed. away ■in the flood, be re-erected.' The engineer was in->, structed to prepare plans and specifications for the ~; work, and submit the same ';• to > the-' Council at the next meeting. Mr. -D. Craig tendered his : resignation lof the position of returning officer for the Paeroa Riding, and his resignation was accepted with regret. It was' decided ito t have ~ a bridge erected ' over the Komata Creek, near the battery, as soon as possible. The. engineer. was; instructed to preoareJ plans and specifications for a footbridge at Mackaytown to replace the one - washed away ,in the floods. .; The Finance Committee's report" showed .the overdraft to be £8062 ss, and total liabilities £8129 16s 9d. : ; The receipts for last month were £1760 18s sd. Accounts amounting to £132115s Id were passed for..payment., ■. .■..■* .■■.-. * THAMES HOSPITAL. The monthly meeting of the Thames Ho* pita.l and Charitable Aid Board was held on.Wednesday night, Mr. T. Kilgour (chairman) presiding. The report of the resident surgeon; of the Hospital showed that the-number of patients in .wards at the end May was 1 24- \ males and six females. The ' number admitted during the, month was 23 males and' six females, and the number discharged .21 . males and 12 females. The report of the superintendent, of the District Home* gavo the number of inmates as' 36 males" and threo females, of which two males had" been adK mitted during the month of May, '
