The Toronto : . correspondent of the Times confidently : asserts that Canada ; will f enter with * hesitation and reluctance -into trade negotiations with the United States. Two or three i-.-i.ptp Sir Wilfrid Laurier's Ministers, he says, favour wide reciprocity, and these are sup. ported; by an ;element amongst the farmers and certain / newspapers, which have always been Continental rather than Imperial in outlook. It is believed that Sir Wilfrid Laurier and the majority of i his colleagues are willing to consider nothing ; beyond reciprocity in regard to products of the soil,%nd are indisposed to reduce duties on manufactures until they see a material reduction in the American manufacturing schedule, and that they will not consent to free trade in such raw materials as -can be used to attract American industries to Canada.
