J. i Bagnall) moved, "That the Auckland City > Council desires to convey to the widow and ' family of the late Frederick Elireufried i Baume, K.C., M.P., LL.B., its sincere symi pa thy with them in their bereavement, and • to record its sense of the great loss to the I city and community generally by the death, ' at*a comparatively early age, of one who ! had taken so prominent a part in public, ' life, whether social, educational, civic, or [ political, as the late Mr. Baume, who, by , hie marked ability and personal good quali- * tie?, won the regard and esteem of all who ? had the privilege of his friendship." The Mayor, in moving the resolution, said that as one who had known the late Mr.! 1 Baume since his boyhood, he greatly ' regretted to hear of his death in the prime 1 of life. Ho had been brought into close touch with Mr. Baume in many ways, and , could testify to his many sterling qualities. Mr. Baume was always ready to assist with ! his advice and counsel, and his death was * a serious loss to the community, as well " as a sore bereavement to his family, par- ; ticularly his wife arid aged mother. 5 Messrs. J. M. Mennie, C. J. Parr, W. A. ' Thompson, and R. Tudehope also spoke in ! support of the motion, which was carried ' in silence, the councillors standing. It. was resolved to forward a copy of the resolution " to the late Mr. Baume's widow and mother.
