J 01 — Dr. Savage left by the Tarawera for Gis- *;!,;' borne on Saturday. Mr. Charles D. Grey left by the Rarawa yesterday, en route to Wellington. ■Dr. J. F. Robertson and his wife leave * by the Maheno for Sydney this evening. Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Owen returned by the Maheno yesterday from a visit to Melbourne. Mr. T. W. Harper, of Dunedin, was a passenger to Auckland by the Waikare yesterday. Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Donald will be passengers by the Maheno this evening for Sydney. Mr. F. E. N. Gaudin returned to Auckland yesterday morning by the Maheno from Sydney.
Mr. A. E. Glover, M.P., arrived in Auckland by the Main Trunk express on Saturday morning.
Captain W. Mcßride, of the Union S.S. Company, was a passenger from Sydney by the Maheno yesterday morning.
Mr. C. T. Barriball was a passenger by the Rarawa yesterday, bound for the Hawera show, at which he is to officiate as judge.
Mr. W. H. Murgatroyd, of Christchurch, and Mr. W. H. Lambert were passengers to Auckland by the Main Trunk express on Sunday.'
The Hon. James McGowan, M.L.C., arrived from the Thames on Saturday, and left last evening for Wellington by the Main Trunk express.
Lieutenant Steer, R.N., accompanied by his wife, proceeds to Sydney by the Maheno this evening to join the next Orient steamer for England.
Mr. D. Morrison, agent of the Union Steam Ship Company at Rarotonga, who has been staying in "Auckland, leaves by the Maheno this evening for Sydney.
Mr. L. E. Oliver, who has been connected with the Seamen's Mission for the past three years, will leave for Melbourne, via Sydney, this evening by the Maheno.
The Hons. J. A. Millar and Dr. Findlay have both been incapacitated during the past few days with influenza (telegraphs our Wellington correspondent), but they are now recovering.
Mr. J. Kirker, general manager of the South British Insurance Company, will be a passenger for Sydney by the Maheno this evening. He will be accompanied by his son, Mr. H. R. Kirker.
Mr. T. E. Taylor, M.P., is to be the guest of honour at the eighth luncheon gathering of the New Zealand Club, to be held at the Y.M.C.A. Hall. Wellington, tomorrow. Mr. Taylor will speak upon National Aims."
Messrs. A. Clattarn and C. Fraser (Wellington), James Wilkes (Bradford), and H. Hargreavcs (Christchurch) arrived by the express from the South'yesterday to attend the wool sales.. Mr. P. J. Mcßride, of Christchurch, was also a passenger by the train.
Archbishop Redwood, of Wellington, conducted an ordination service at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Napier, yesterday (says a Press Association message). The priests ordained were: The Revs. J. A. Eccleton, A. Burger, M. Murphy, A. Venning, and L. Dignan. Six others received minor orders, viz.: Revs. Joseph Herring, Thos. Segrief, Charles Casey, John Monaghan, Joseph Cullen, James Fraher.
The death is announced in Brisbane of Mr. Hugh Mosman, the ''■ well-known. Queensland landowner and sportsman.] The deceased gentleman made many visits to Auckland, and owned a; large estate at" Mangere. Some few years back he had an extensive racial establishment in Auckland, but! he had withdrawn his colours from the New Zealand turf for the last three years or 50..;" ;'-.£' """".■'
