LAWN TENNIS.
BOMBAY CLUB.
The first annual meeting of the Bombay Lawn Tennis Club was- held in tho Public Library on Tuesday. Thero was fair attendance, and in the unavoidable absence of the president • (Mr. D- MacKenzie), Mr. G. Balme occupied the chair. The secretary and the treasurer read their reports, which wero considered satisfactory for ..a new olub. \':'.'"•:■ % < Officers were elected for the ensuing year, as follows:—Patron, Mr. W. F. Massey, M.P. (re-elected); president, Mr. C. Cooper; secretary, Miss E. M. Harris; treasurer, Mr. A. J. Harris; auditor, Mr. G. Balm©; committee, ' Mrs. G. Balme, Misses . Brownhill, 1 Clements, <' Masefield, ', Harris, Messrs- ' H. Carter, D. Cornthwaite, Grant, and Watson.' - It was decided to : increase the : subscription to 4s and 5s for ladies and gentlemen respectively, reduced in the case of two or more ■ members of one family joining the club. October 23 was the date .agreed upon for the opening of the season, and with favourable weather there should bo a large J attendance. .It was considered advisable to join with > Pukekoho. and Puni Tennis Clubs in forming a- union, : provided the conditions were satisfactory. More interclub matches would then tako place, and help to maintain interest in the olub. -
Votes of thanks wero passed to Mr. and Mrs. Cooper and family for the use of their lawn, and for assistance given to tho club, to Messrs. Carter Brothers for presenting a roller, and to the office-bearers of the club'for their services!

At tho opening of tho Coromandel Lawn Tennis Club this afternoon there was , a largo attendance of members and their friends. The president, Mr. A. Hildyard Gatland, after thanking Mr. Burgess, Mr. St. George, and the committee for supervising improvements and '-■' preparing the ground for the season, declared the courts open for play for tho 25th season. Afternoon tea, under the capable management of Mrs. Gatland and Miss Fuller, was muchappreciated. Play was indulged in till dark. . 'V'';'-: '.:.. '
