COTTAGE DESTROYED.

[BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Waihi, Sunday. A three-roomed cottage at Bullertown (occupied by Mr. W. F. Richards and family), together with the whole of the furniture and effects, was completely destroyed by fire between eight and nine o'clock on Saturday night. It seems that Mrs. Richards, who had been ironing in the kitchen, was called to attend to ono of the children, and in her absence some of the clothes must have taken fire from the candle which had been left on the table. The building was valued at £80, and the furniture and effects at £120. There were no insurances. The fire brigade turned out promptly, but in the absence of a, water service in this portion of the district could do nothing.
