London, August 22. . Sir Joseph Ward, Lady Ward, and family, Dr. Fitchett (Solicitor-Gene-ral for New Zealand), and Miss Seddon have left London to sail from Vancouver by the Makura. A large crowd saw the party off at Euston railway station, and cheered warmly as the train left. Among those on the station platform were Mr. H. W. Just (Assistant-Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies, representing the Colonial Office), Mr. W. Hall-Jones (High Commissioner) and Mrs. and the Misses Hall-Jones, the Chinese Ambassador, Dr. W. A. Chappie (Wellington), Mr. J. H. Witheford (late of Auckland), Mr. J. W. Raymond (Invcrcargill), Colonel Davies, Sir Walter Kennaway, and Mr. Wray Palliscr.
MAIL AND CABLE SERVICES. London, August 20. Sir J. G. Ward had long interview with Mr. Lloyd-George (Chancellor of the Exchequer), Mr. ' Winston Churchill (President of the Board of Trade), Mr. Sydney Buxton (Post-master-General), and LieutenantColonel Seely (Under-Secretary for the Colonies) respecting mails and cables.
