[BT TELEGRAPH.PRESS ASSOCIATION.]

Hokitika, Tuesday.

The Mont d'Or Gold Mining Company, Ross, has declared its 75th dividend of Is per share.

NOTES.

In the Rising Sun mine the contractors have driven another 25ft, making a total of 346 ft in all. Tho country still continues to be of sandstone description, and is timbered up to within 25ft of tho face.

Tho manager of tho Now Sylvia mine, Thames, reports that tho main low level crosscut now measures 30ft beyond the reef, and is penetrating most favourable country. A 2in vein of nibbly quartz and silica was passed through at 28ft.

Tho manager of tho Bendigo mine, To Aroha, reports that last week he continued tho drive north on the Silver King reef, but had not broken down tho whole, as he had been engaged in breaking out the footwall portion.

The manager of tho Comstoek United mino reports that No. 1 level'has now been extended 174 ft. The country was very much broken up last week, but is now improving. Several stringers of quartz carrying gold were cut through during, the week.

According to the manager of the Point Russell mine, Thames, operations last week were confined to stripping the reef in Nos. 1 and 2 stopes. The country met with was of a very favourable class, and a small portion of tho reef which camo away when stripping operations were on showed strong colours of gold.

The manager of the Missouri mine reports that operations have been started in the way of driving on the Red Mercury reef, in the No. 2 level. There remains a distance of about 120 ft to get vertically under where the Great Mercury Company worked this block successfully. At No. 1 level tho men aro engaged picking up the level, and laying tho _ road. When this work is completed, it is the intention to sink a winze from No. 1 to No. 2 level.

The manager of the. Karangahake minereports that last week'the road level crosscut being put in to intersect the new reef was extended an additional 33ft, making a total length of 83ft. The country at this point was easy-breaking sandstone, consequently good progress was being made. At the Tau* kani low level the contractors had driven 7ft for the week, making the total length of the tunnel 737 ft. The country showing in tho faco at tho present time is oxidised andesite of a good description for carrying gold-bear-ing reefs. Several leaders have been cut through, including one which shows a width of about 18in in the south side of the drive, but is small on the other side. The quartz in this leader is of a rubbly nature, and shows a lot of mineral in the stone.

The manager of the Tairua Golden Hills mine reports . that satisfactory progress is being maintained in the extension of tho low level crosscut, the present face being 247 ft from starting point. No quartz bodies have so far been met with. Approximately another 150 ft of driving should bring this level to the foot of'tho main hill, in which all the company's operations have thus far been conducted. At No. 3 level the extensive block of ground between north and south rises has been substantially timbered, and is now practically available for stoping purposes. The leading stope southward is now within 25ft of the face of the drive. When this has < been completed, driving southward will be resumed as soon as the level can bo cleared of quartz. Some of the men are at present enlarging the crosscut to'render it suitable for horse traffic. The leading stope at. No. 2 level looks well, and is producing ore of good payable value.
