It was decided to write to the Tramways Company complaining of the inadequacy of the 'tram service generally, particularly between the hours of live and six, and to renew the request for a more generous time-table. It. was resolved to wait as a deputation upon the Hon. Dr. Findlay on his next visit to Auckland to ask him to use his influence to have a sum placed on thin year's Estimates for the erection of a post office at Remuera. A petition was received from a number of residents in the Marewa and Mapau Roads calling attention to and protesting against the introduction of congested city building conditions in the Remuera district. A meeting of the One-tree Hill Road Board was held last night, those present being: The chairman (Mr. E. W. Burton) and Messrs. C. McKinney, M. R. Creagh, and E. A. Craig. The action of a propertyholder in having- erected double houses on each of three allotments was brought under the notice of the Board by the sanitarv inspector. It was pointed out that the plans which had' been sanctioned showed only one dwelling on each allotment, but partitions had been placed in the, houses so that two tenants could be secured for each. As no permits had been applied for and the provisions for drainage were very inferior, the officer suggested that steps be taken to compel the owner to comply with the building by-laws. It was decided to take the solicitor's opinion on the matter.
