AGRICULTURAL WORKERS.
SEEING TO THEIR COMFORT. [BT TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] 4 Wellington, Thursday. . Recently Mr. ' Lynch, secretary of the ' Otago Agricultural Labourers' Union, wrote to Mr. /D.' McLaren; M.P., complaining that the Agricultural Labourers' Accommodation Act was not being enforced,, and that no inspection whatever under the Act had taken place. The complaint was forwarded on to the Minister for Labour (Hon. A. W. Hogg). ' Mr.. Hogg has now replied to Mr. McLaren; stating that the Act has not been suspended, as some people seem to imagine. The Department has at all times been ready to attend to intimations from any sources as to lack of the ; necessary accommodation, or any other matters affecting these workers as provided for by the Act. • The Government, however, cannot undertake to engage another extra 1 batch of inspectors to run this particular Act, but any' requirements will receive the careful attention of the officers of the Labour Depart;,ment. •■ ; . , ■ ' s ; ~, - ■
