CHEMISTS' PICNIC.
The chemists of Auckland held their annual picnic and fishing excursion yesterday. The attendance was very fair, but tho wet morning prevented many who intended being present from attending. Many ladies wero present. A splendid programme of races was gone through, the finishes in every case being very close. Messrs. Kempthorne, Prosser, and Co., Messrs. G. H. Baker and Co., and the Surgical Supply Co. donated trophies. Mr. C. Rodger presented the prizes. . After the sports the Britannia went off to tho fishing grounds, where splendid sport with good hauls was obtained. Tho, committee, Mossrs. Llyal, Laird, A. Gray, Watts, Duval, and Robins, worked hard to make the picnic the great success it was. Tho following were the results of tho races:—Message Boys: Foster 1, Curtis 2, Holden 3. Wholesale Race: A. Gray 1, Dervan 2, Piper 3. Apprentices: Newell 1, Hiiresnape 2, Cotterill 3. Assistants : Oswald 1, Lawson 2, Rhodes 3. Master Chemists: Cronin 1, Fookes 2, Sharland 3. Largest Fish: Bennett 1, Carr and Laird (equal) 2. Smallest Fish: Eccles and Lawson (equal) 1, Holden 2.
