RE DIRTY TRAMCARS.
Sir,A serious : complaint is • made, by a * correspondent. tinder this heading that the v- realleged uncloanliness 'of the \ cars; is. largely ' due to men intruding on the car reserved U'fk exclusively for the /use'' of ladies and gentlemen who object toV the. smell, of tobacco ' r and there indulging' in smoking. Personally - f I have never seen such a case, and' I am'.pS sure the employees, of the Tramways Com- • pany would not allow it for a moment. ' Ij l would like to ask ''Passenger'',. whether he fSJf, (or is it she?) has ever noticed , the .utter '- - contempt which ladies seem to have for the sacredness of the smoking car? I When there '*"•? is plenty of room in their own car they 1 frequently monopolise the limited accommodation reserved for W smokers;'' and. ;he would bo a bold conductor indeed.-^who would dare to ask -a lady to give place to 3 a gentleman smoker.,. J, ■ ' -ft* v^Y-' Another Passenger. '
