BULGARIA AND TURKEY,

ARMY MOBILISATION.

THE BOLD FRONT POLICY.

By Telegraph.—Press Association.—Copyright.

(Received January 26, 11.30 p.m.)

London, January 26. Bulgaria's action in mobilising the Stara Zagora division of the army is interpreted as a desire to produce an impression of firmness in order to influence the bargaining with Turkey, the latter showing a desire to secure the rectification of the frontier near Kiriali, unless Bulgaria's financial offer is increased.

(Received January 26, 11.45 p.m.)

Sofia, January 26,

General Paprikoff (Bulgarian Minister for Foreign Affairs), speaking in the Sobranje (National Assembly), stated that Bulgaria's information was to the effect that the Porte appeared determined to support Turkey's territorial claim by force. Turkey had reinforced her troops in the Adrianople district, hence the mobilisation of the Bulgarian division had been ordered in view of that menace, and was a purely preventive measure.

The Sobranje approved of the policy.
