WELLINGTON UNEMPLOYED.
[BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN' CORRESPONDENT.]
Wellington, Tuesday. It appears from reports which have come from country district* that the unemployed difficulty is likely to be serious during the next few months—if not for a longer period. In practically every town in tho Wellington provincial district "there is evidence of financial stringency, and tho cutting down of staffs in almost every business, as well as on farms. At the same time there are large numbers of artisan immigrants arriving in the country. and there is apparently no provision made for their employment.
Ma-sterton appears! to have been badly invaded during the pact few weeks by unemployed, over one hundred and fifty persons having applied at one. labour agency for work. These people comprised carpenters, engineers, printers, bricklayers, and plasterers, and numbers of them visited local farms in the hope of getting something to do
