SUDDEN DEATHS.

A r.UNECLLi- sudden death occurred at tV Three Kings yesterday, the victim being Mr. John" Richard Cook, who had been living with a brother at Khyber Pass, Newmarket. Deceased had driven oat from Newmarket with a friend to .jsit another friend (Mr. Thos. Hurley). J aa d wae in good spirit*, although he had only been discharged from hospital on Tuesday Inst. On arrival at Mr. Hurley's residence he went into the dining-room, and had just taken a seat when he expired. The body was removed to Khyber Pass in the evening. Deceased, who was 30 years of age, leaves a widow and three children. He had undergone considerable hospital treatment for heart disease during the last ten years, and at Gisborne recently his medical attendants predicted that he would not live for more than six months. It is not thought an inquest will 1 e necessary. AN OLD MAN'S DEATH. [BT TELEGRAPH.— ASSOCIATION.] Dcnfdin, Sunday. A man named Jno. Smith, a widower, 7 0 years of age, and engaged as a flaxmiller at Waihola, died suddenly at Roraahapa yesterday. He went to Romahapa on New Year's Day to stay with a friend, and yesterday he went out for a walk by himself. In the evening he was found in ait unconscious and dying condition in the tush, and he expired about 10 minutes later. Deceased has a daughter and two eons in Invercargill. Death is supposed to have been due to apoplexy.
