The Daily Mail asserts that the Earl of Shaftesbury has declined an offer of 1000 a week for a thirty weeks' concert tour in America. The Earl is gifted with a beautiful tenor voice. The present Earl of Shaftesbury is the ninth of the name, having succeeded to the title in 1886. 'He is 39 years of age, having been bom on* August 31, 1869. From 1895 to 1898 he was A.D.C. to Lord Braseevj then Governor of Victoria. In 1899 he married Lady Constance Grosvenor. The Earl of Shaftesbury was not known while in Australia as the possessor of the wonderful voice he in now credited with.
