TRAMWAY PROFITS.
THE CITY COUNCIL'S SHARE. It was stated yesterday that the profit« r —of—the Auckland Tramways Company for the year 1907 totalled £52,551 6s Id, of ■which the City Council was entitled to £3005 2s 7d, and that a cheque for that amount had been received. Yesterday morning the town clerk (Mr. H. W. Wilson) informed a Herald representative that he bad received a farther cheque for £188 12s 8d in payment of the Council's claim for adjustment of the profits of the years from 1903 to 1906. ~ ■ The cheque represented a number of email items extending over that period, which had not been taken into account when reckoning the percentage, but which had been claimed as the result of the audit of the company's accounts, made on behalf of the Council. The City Council's percentage of profits since the installation of the tramway service is as follows—l9o2 (six weeks), £85; 1903, £2048 la Id; 1904, £2163 9s 7d; 1905, £2241 19s 7d; 1906, £2914 16s 8d; 1907, £3005 2s 7d.
