WAIHI HOSPITAL.
DEPUTATION TO THE MINISTER. [»Y TELEGRAPH.—SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT.] Wellington, Tuesday. A deputation from the Waihi Hospital Board, consisting of Messrs. Newth and Foster, waited ' upon the Minister in charge of hospitals (the Hon. Geo. Fowlds) to-day, with a renewal of a previous request for a Government subsidy towards the cost of carrying out the proposed improvements to the Wailu Hospital. Mr. Newth stated that some alterations tc th© plans which had been suggested by the Inspector-General (Dr. Valintine) had been adopted, and as a contribution to the cost the Board asked for a subsidy of £500. Mr. Fowlds said that under the Qo-i vernment's Bill it was proposed to amalgk-j: mate the Thames and Ohinpmuri Counties for hospital and charitable aid purposes. The hospital had already had grants totalling £1800. He would, however, recon- . sider the whole matter, and see whethef any further grant could be made.
