COMING ELECTIONS.
OPPOSITION CAMPAIGN. [BY TELEGRAPH.PRESS ASSOCIATION.] £ Pahiatua, Tuesday. Mr. W. F. Massky and Mr. James Allen were accorded an enthusiastic, reception at the Olympic Theatre last night. The building was crowded, many having come a long distance to be present. . Both speakers dealt generally with the policy administration of the Government, which they condemned as being inimical to the interests of the country. At the close of the meeting the speakers were heartily cheered. GERALDINE. [BY TELEGRAPH.—I'RESS association*.] TrMA.Ru, Tuesday. Mr. W. H. Williams, late Crown lands ranger of South Canterbury, to-day announces himself as a candidate for Geraldine electorate in the forthcoming general election. WESTERN MAORI. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Hamilton, Tuesday. A well-attended Maori meeting has been held at Kawhk in connection with the election of the member for th© Western Maori District. It was decided. to nominate the Hon. Maliuta to contest th© seat against Henare Kaihau and Pepenc Eketone, and it is understood that Mahuta. has consented .to stand. It is stated that the natives refuse to support Mr. Kaihau, who up to the present has been Mahuta's nominee, and, in the event of Mahuta not standing, their votes will be cast for Pepone Eketone.
