ELLERSLIE TOWN BOARD.
A mating of the Ellerslie Town Board was held on Tuesday evening, there being present: Messrs. G. Wilkinson (chairman)* MeGalium, Peek, and Smith. The chairman reported that he/with Mr. Peck and the .; overseer, had met the deputation from the : Charitable Aid Board, in regard to the nuisance arising from the' effluent from the septic tank belonging to the Convalescent Home, and a promise was given that steps •would immediately be taken to remedy the matter. Mr. Mcintosh, district engineer for '.the New Zealand Government railways, intimated that the Department would not agree to pay for the maintenance of the i lamps to be placed on the main traffic bridge, but would bear the cost of fixing the "lamps. It was pointed out'.that the Board had been promised that the Railway Depart- ■ ment would maintain these lamps. In re- . gard to the etormwater which had done damage Mr. Mcintosh agreed to put a 12in pipe at. the foot of the.- by-street alongside the bridge to remedy the matter, which _ the .Board agreed to. "' Complaints were received in regard to cattle strayint; on the roads, and 'the clerk was instructed to write to the police asking them to take action in the matter. It was decided to proceed against the .builders who "have not taken out the necessary building permits., Tbe turncock was instructed to cut off all water supplies ■'. where- the receivers have not paid their , rates. It was resolved to meet the Mount Wellington Road Board on Saturday week to .adjust- the accounts between the two ■ Boards. ;
