At a meeting of the Christchtircr branch of the Political Labour League last night it was resolved to announce Mr. Jameft Thorn as the socialist candidate for Chratchurch South. A resolution was passed asking Mr. D. G. Sullivan to stand foi Avon in the same interest. The secretary was instructed to make inquiries as to the cost of maintaining s Labour newspaper during the e?ectior period, and to report at the next meeting ACTIVITY OF THE LABOUR PARTY. [BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION'.] Wellington, Thursday. At a.meeting of the Wellington Labour Representation Committee it was decided to contest six seats in Wellington and suburbs if funds are available. The nominations received up to the present are: Messrs. D. McLaren (secretary of the Wharf Labourers' Union), W. Jones (secretary of the Federated Seamen's Union), ('. Chapman (president of the Typographic^ 1 Federation), W. Wag»:taffe (secretary of the Carpenter*' Union), G. Campbell (organim of the Political Labour league), and W. Young (secretary of the Australasian Fed* rated Seamen's Union).
