Poland, Foster, Armstrong, and Way arc getting actively to work. Evidently the Government vote will be considerably split up, the first three being Ministerial supporters. CANTERBURY SEATS. At a meeting of the Christchtircr branch of the Political Labour League last night it was resolved to announce Mr. Jameft Thorn as the socialist candidate for Chratchurch South. A resolution was passed asking Mr. D. G. Sullivan to stand foi Avon in the same interest. The secretary was instructed to make inquiries as to the cost of maintaining s Labour newspaper during the e?ectior period, and to report at the next meeting ACTIVITY OF THE LABOUR PARTY. At a.meeting of the Wellington Labour Representation Committee it was decided to contest six seats in Wellington and suburbs if funds are available. The nominations received up to the present are: Messrs. D. McLaren (secretary of the Wharf Labourers' Union), W. Jones (secretary of the Federated Seamen's Union), ('. Chapman (president of the Typographic^ 1 Federation), W. Wag»:taffe (secretary of the Carpenter*' Union), G. Campbell (organim of the Political Labour league), and W. Young (secretary of the Australasian Fed* rated Seamen's Union).
