Browne, and McElwain. - House Refuse: Messrs. Burke and Co.'a tender for removal of house refuse for the ensuing year was accepted. ' The Bates: Notice of intention to strike rates i j on the following basis was given:—One penny in 1 the £ general rate, one-sixth of a. penny in the £ ) .hospital rate, third of a penny in the £ I special rate, and one-eighth of a penny in the £ gaa rate. This increases the general rate one- , eleventh of a penny to provide for the house I refuse service. ~ ' , "--.:. ■* > Tram Duplication: The following motionvwas . carried—" That the Board will give the neces- , sary consent for duplicating the tram line in the district providing the company makes the neces- • aary alterations to . the New < North ■; Road and . bears all the cost of same. - Sanitary Conditions: The inspector reported that several residents had. not been employing ' the sanitary contractor for some time past. sßy f the remarks made ,by members of the Board it j appeared that the only inference to be drawn from this report was that the persons referred to '' were burying their sanitary refuse in their • grounds. " It's a bad state of affairs," commented a member. " Very bad," added another. It was stated by the borough clerk that all the residents had been .notified .that they must employ the sanitary contractor. 'The chairman (Mr.' Garrett) moved that : the inspector' inspect • the yards of the persons in question. The motion was carried. .
