. *». —; , A meeting of the Auckland Harbour Board was held yesterday. Thero were present: The Hon. E. Mitchelson (chairman), Messrs. C. C. Daere, A. Keyes, H. Bradnoy, J. Kneen, W. E. Hutchison, A. J. Eutrican, G. W. Basley, W. J. Napier, J. B. Macfarlaue, H. Heather, A. E. Glover, and Captain G. MeKenzie. Shelter at Stanley Bay: J. B. Gilfillan, on behalf of residents of Stanley Bay and Stanley Point, asked the Board to erect a shelter on the reserve just above the wharf to protect intending passengers from the wet weather. The question was referred to the , engineer for report. Timber Booms: The Waitemata Sawmill Company applied for permission to change the site of their timber booms from Shoal Bay to Hobson's Bay, alongside Mr. Goldie's booms. The mills were inconvenienced by being only able to work Shoal Bay at spring tides. The _ harbourmaster stated that the position desired ! was the safest in the harour, and he offered no objection, provided the area wanted was suitable. The letter was referred to the Board in committee. Steam Tug: The Mac Arthur Engineering Co.. Loudon, reported that the work in connection with the steam tug being built for the Board was. proceeding satisfactorily. Lloyd's and the Board of Trade had approved of the various details and desired to know the name for the tug, and whether it was to be registered in England or New Zealand. The letter was received and referred to the Board in committee. Rocks on Devonport Foreshore: The -De-. vonport Borough Council wrote requesting permission to quarry the rocks along the foreshore of -Kffig*" Edward Parade. Mr. Napier said this was a question that should bo carefully considered. It might not be a good thing to remove the rocks; they wore picturesque,'and their removal might throw tide currents inshore. The matter was referred to the Board in committee.
