GOLF.
The third round of the medal competition was played on the Waitemata links on Saturday. The match was of 16 holes, stroke play, and there were 12 entries. The silver button was won by K. B. Smythe, gross 91, net 79 H. Geofgd was next, 96 • and 81; and J. Kallender third, 97 and 85. •The match for the vice-captain's prize of * the Waitemata Club was also continued, Laird beating Lecky, 6 up and 5 to play; and McNeil beating Baxter, 9 up and 7 to play, in the second round. In the third ; round Storey beat Milne, 5 up and 3 to play. This match will be continued on Saturday next, when Laird will play McNeil {or a place in the final. 1 On Saturday next, a- match will be played on the Auckland links between the Waitemata Club and members of the medical profession.' The following have, been selected to represent the \Vaitematii Golf Club: H. P. R. Foster, C. Nettbton, J. I. Johns, J. »' Ivallender, R. B. Smythe, H. George, G. F. Wilson, K. Hall, G. Whitelaw, W. J. W. Philson. . Play will begin at 2 p.m. Members of the Waitemata Club are reminded that entries for the club championships close on the 15th inst. They should be nosted to the hon. secretary or recorded at the clubhouse.
