A SUSPICIOUS FIRE.
INQUIRY AT CHRISTCHURCH. [BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION'.] - CnitisxctrußCH, Saturday. A.v inquiry concerning the outbreak 'of fire which occurred in Masters and Sons'shop in High-street on the 17th inst. was commenced by Mr. H. W. Bishop, district Coroner, and a jury of six, at the Magistrate's Court to-day. The Coroner said that the police had made certain representations to him in connection with the fire, and they thought a inquest should be held. There was a statutory provision mane for an inquiry into a fire'where the circumstances appeared to warrant it.' Mr. Hall, who • represented the Fir© Board, said in reply to a question that the inquiry was purely a police matter, but if the police had not taken it up the Board would have asked for an inquiry. . The jury inspected the building and were then discharged till 2.30 p.m. on Tuesday.
