FARMERS IN CONFERENCE.
THEIR POSITION IN POLITICS. [BY TELEGRAPH.— PRESS ASSOCIATION'.] DtNKDix, Wednesday. At the Farmers' Union conference the following resolutions were passed: —(l) '' That the time has arrived when the Farmers' Union should take tip a definite political attitude, and that this resolution be forwarded to the Colonial Council: (2) that a policy, as defined by the union from time to lime, should be submitted to candidates in each electorate, and farmers recommended to consider candidates' replies in exercising their votes." It was maintained that the union should deal more directly with candidates at election times than had hitherto been the case, so that the needs 01 farmers might be Brought under the notice of members of the different districts. A further motion was carried: "That the Government be asked to prohibit the sale and distribution of all grass seed screenings which contained used seeds.'' Complaint was made that merchants frequently sold seed screenings to farmers, and that these were distributed over the country. Mr. R. Scott was re-elected president, and Mr. G. H. Stewart was re-elected vice-president.
