HOUSE DESTROYED AT NELSON.

THIRD MYSTERIOUS OUTBREAK.

Nelson, Wednesday. About 9.30 lust night "The Beacons," a nine-roomed residence at the foot of Britannia Heights, The Port, occupied by Mr. Colin Campbell and family, and owned by the Richardson estate, was destroyed by fire, this being the third fire at the port in 10 days. Mrs. Campbell and her niece were in the house at the time, the others being away at a concert in town. The garden hose, which had been connected earlier in the evening, was found disconnected, consequent!}' there was no means of checking the spread of the flames, which broke out in the drawingroom. It was some time before the fire alarm was received in town, and as the water supply pressure was inadequate littlo could bo done to save the place. Some furniture was saved, but the loss is considerable. Incendiarism is suspected in regard to the three recent fires, but no evidence exists. The flames had a strong hold when discovered, and the occupants were forced to make, their exit through a bedroom window, scantily dressed. Nothing was saved.
