TTMARU. • [BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Timaru, Tuesday. At the Supreme Court to-day D. Sargeant, a fanner, pleaded guilty to a charge of wilfully -shooting horses. He was admitted to probation for 12 months, and ordered to pay the value of an animal killed,-£4O, and costs, £10 10s. S. W. Bladder, farmer, of Morven, pleaded guilty to indecent assault, and was sentenced to 12 months' imprisonment. INVEECARGILL. [BY telegraph.—press association.] Invercargill, Tuesday. The Supreme Court was opened to-day. Mr. Justice Denniston said he had again to congratulate the district on the extremely satisfactory nature of the calendar, there being only two charges, neither of a serious character. Ernest William Clampson, 27 years of age, pleaded guilty to forgery in making a false school certificate, representing that he had passed the fifth standard, whereas he had only passed the fourth, in order to get employment on the railway. His Honor refused probation, as these frauds on the public Mere becoming too common. He imposed a. sentence of three months' imprisonment, and stated that he would have passed a- longer sentence only for accused's age and character. Murdoch McDonald, charged with breaking and entering the Gulden Age. Hot©!, Bluff, and stealing £18 lOr and two flask.; of whisky, was acquit .
