DR.' FIND LAY'S VIEWS. A CHALLENGE AND A REPLY. [BV TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION, WKfXiXf.:TO- v r Tuesday. The secretary of the New Zealand Socialist jiartv recehtlv wrote to the- AttorneyGeneral (Dr. Findlay) with reference. to Ins recent speech at Wanganui, in winch Ire referred to ..revolutionary socialists, challenging him to meet a member of the society in a. debate on the subject. The name of Mr, Tom Mann was mentioned as the society's delegate. In the course of his reply Dr. T'indlay stated :—" fail to see what possible good such a debate would do. lat least, could not hope to convince you of my beliei that revolutionary- socialism by the extremes of its purposes, and notwithstanding the sincerity of the advocates, is « real enemy, especially because it enables our political reactionaries to disturb the real friends of .social reform by needless alarm. In my opinion a socialistic revolution in New Zealand is but the counsel of fanaticism. "You refer, to the worker- of New Zealand. Permit me to express my conviction that they need tit argument it'oin me to satisfy them that the revolutionary methods you advocate are as great a peril to them as to any other class of the community."
