Black:.":A' slight demand hag get in for good rescraped. Some lines of bold lumps, well cleaned, have also been sold during the week at a slight reduction in price. Three-quarter-scraped hard steel has not yet come into favour; stocks' of this in the hands of brokers are rather heavy. There is a little, business doing in medium blacks, but hard black nuts aro not. so easily sold. Black sugar is not wanted. Bush: A.buyer has come into the market for a little rescraped; other grades of bush aro neglected. There is only a limited quantity on hand. Bled bush is still unsalable. - Chips and Dust: Bright chips and dust are selling. Good ordinary chips and dust are not moving off. Diggers' ordinary chips and dust can be quitted at low prices if free from mud. The demand for black riddlings, black seeds, and coarse black dust, if in dry condition, continues. Horses : At the Durham Yards on Friday horses were yarded in .larger numbers than lor some weeks, and anything of a good sort sold under good competition. Heavy draughts realised from £25 10s to £36; medium do., £21 to £32 10s; light harness horses, £10 10s to £20; hacks, £6 10s to £16; Courtland waggon, £30. Cattle: Ac the Newmarket Yards on Tuesday we had an average yarding of dairy and store stock and a full supply of beet. Dairy cows sold at from £3 10s to £3: heifers, £3 5s to £5 10s: empty cows, £2 2s to £3 2s 6d ; calves, TBs to £1 7.«. The beef pens were tilled with cattle of excellent quality, tome of them being very prime. They showed no improvement in values, however. many being bought for freezing purposes. Oxen sold" to 21s per lCOl'i and cows 17s to 19s per 1001b. A draft of 36 steers from Messrs. Held Brothers, Wainingi. averaged £10 10k. Steers sold at from £5 7s 6d to £11 7s 6d ; cows. £3 10s to '■ £7 15s. Sheep were yarded in full numbers at Newmarket on Tuesday and fold at improved rates, wethers selling at from 15s 6d to £1 4s: ewes, 15s fid to £1: hoggets, 12s 6d to £1 Os 3d; inferior fatted, 7s 6d to 12s.
Pigs: Porkers realised 18s 6d to £1 17s; weaneis, 10s to 13s 6d; uaeoners, £2 lOs to £3 7s.
At Clevedon on Monday 'diem was an average muster of both cattle and sheep, which sold at ruling rates. Northern Sales: At Tungowahine Hie yards were filled' with stock of good quality. Sellers asked above values at the opening of the pale. but eventually nearly everything was cleared. At Arupollue there was a good muster. Bidding was slack for a start, but. livened as the Hale proceeded, and a successful sale resulted. A nice lino of beef steers ot light weight, but good quality, fold well. We also penned some good two and a-half and three-year-old steers, which all sold, with the exception of one pen. At Raupo there was a jroou yarding, mostly of voting stock, which sold at ruling rates." At iMaiingaturoto there was ft small muster, vendors holding back for the spring sales owing to the. amount of grass in the district at the presenttime. Some big steers sold well, realising up to market rates. Young stock were dull. At Wellsford there was on average yarding, which sold with the exception of one pen of heifer calves. Cow beef bold well. At warkworth the sheep yards were filled, most of those yarded being wethers of a good stamp, which sold well lip to ruling rates. Ewes met a brisk inquiry. Cattle were yarded in average numbers and sold freely, with the exception of some, nice heifers, which wen: neglected. Some good two and a-halt' year old steers showing quality were keenly competed for. We quote for these sales: Grown steers, £4 15s to £5 15s ; three-year-old steers, £3 l!is to £4 15s; two to two and a-half year old steers, £2 30s to £5 14s: vearling to 18-month steers. £1 12s 6d to £2 15s; beef steers, £6 7e 6d to £6 15s; fat cows, £3 16s to £5 15s; fresh- conditioned cows, £2 12s 6d to £3 5s : one and two- - year-old heifers, £1 5« to £2 ss; dairy cows, £,5 10.H to £5.
