THE ISLAND DEPOTS.
A VISIT OP INSPECTION. [BY TKLKGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Chrtstchtthch, Monday. H.MUS. Pegasus returned to Lyttelton yesterday from the Campbell and Auckland Islands, the cruiser's wet decks and blackened funnel and the rusty stains on her sides showed the "dirty" weather she had gone through. At the Campbell Islands the provision depot was found intact, and the Auckland Islands depots were also found to be untouched and in good order. The Pegasus next steamed to Port Ross, and anchored in Erebus Cove, where 55 cases of ■ provisions were landed and placed in the depot there. Large numbers of sea lions were eeen in Sandy Bay, and the boats' crews had to keep them off with oars. Visits were also paid to Ross and Enderby Islands, where the boats were found to be in good order.
