A PLUMBER'S BANKRUPTCY.
A MEETING of "creditors in the bankrupt estate of Benjamin Crawford, of Ponsonby, plumber, was held ;'yesterday afternoon at the office of the official assignee (Mr. E. Gerard). , . According to debtor's sworn statement, he commenced business in 1904 with a capital of £33. He had been unable to give sufficient attention to the financial'side of the business. He borrowed £300 some months ago. giving a, bill of sale as security oyer his plant, and a mortgage on some patent rights, and' on a, section-at Parncll, leased -from the lender of the £300, which ; carried-interest at 10 per cent. His decision to call his creditors together was due to pressure; Meantime his plant had been seized by the lender, and sold for about £130. His liabilities were £765, and as"sets £44, and the profits from jobs in hand were estimated at about £125. \ A resolution was carried authorising the official assignee to employ bankrupt to finish, the- contracts in hand at reasonable wages, the profits to be paid into the estate. ■ \ " . ■~'.•'
