DEATH WHILE DRIVING.
,«, . [BY telegraph.—own- CORRESPONDENT.] Giscorxk, Friday. Mb. W. CrtwiiE, licensee of the Muriwai Hotel, who was well known and esteemed throughout, the district, died suddenly yesterday. Mr. Currie left home in the morning for the Mata where sales. He wafc in his usual health, and had not. complained of feeling ill. He stayed at the saleyards most of the day, and left for home about five o'clock, in company with Mr. Victor Watt, an employee, who was driving. When [Kissing Te Arai, Mr. dime suddenly collapsed, and fell forward. Mr. Watt drove with all speed to Muriwai,, allowing Mr. Currie. whom ho thought had merely fainted, to rest across his lap. On arrival the man was lifted from the trap, when it was found that- life was extinct, death having resulted from heart- failure. Mr. Currio was born at Waiuku. He joined the mounted police at 19 years of age, and came to Gisboruo shortly after, and was? in the police here for about 10 years, being in charge of the station at Ormond. He saw a, good deal of service in connection with the Maori disturbances on. this coa-t, being engaged at' Waiapii, Wairoa, and Waikaremoana. v
