Dyer, judgment was given by default for the full amount claimed and costs in the case of Marshall and Sons v. A. E. Robs, £6 0s 7d. In the case of 11 a Hid ay v. J. Donovan, judgment summons, defendant was ordered to pay the balance still owing, and costs, or in default one month's imprisonment. At the last sitting AJphonso Smith charged Alex. McDonald with trespass and damaging a fence. The charge of trespass was dismissed, and defendant was convicted on Inn second charge, and fined 10s and costs, £1 Bs. Win. George Richards was charged with failing to maintain his children. As defendant was able to earn only 15s per week, the Bench thought it useless _to make an order, and the case was dismissed. John Mcßreen was charged with cruelty to a sheep by tying three of its legs together and conveying it in a cart for some miles to Hikurangi pound, the animal also suffering from laceration of one leg. The evidence was not considered sufficient to warrant a conviction, and the case was dismissed. Joshua Thomas Harris sued Angus Ferguson for £27, work done in forming a bush road. The latter put in a counterclaim of £20 for the loss of two bullocks out of a team lent to the claimant for hauling timber. The evidence being in direct conflict, both parties were nonsuited, with costs.
