ARBITRATION COURT.

THE PULLERS' DISPUTE. WHARF LABOURERS' AWARD. [BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION ] Wellington, Wednesday. Tut; Arbitration Court to-day heard the Wellington Panel's' dispute, and after evidence and addresses the Court adjourned to enable the parties to come to a mutuaf agreement. After half-an-hour's conference the following agreement was announced:— All pulling shall be done at piecework rates, except that, where learners are employed they shall be paid at the rates specified in the award. The rate of wages shall be 9d per dozen, except on the holidays specified in the award and Sunday*, when the rate shall bo lOd. Learners shall be employed in the proportion of one to five?' up to 20 years of age, 10id per hour: 20 to . 21 years of use. Is per hour: over 21 years, piecework rare.-. Holidays to be New Year's Day, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, Good Friday. Waiting time, after the expiration of an hour, to be paid for at th« rate of 2s per hour. Preference to be granted on tin- terms of the employers' proposals. The Court gave it.- award in the Wellington wharf-labourers' dispute as follows:— Hour.- of labour, eight to rive, and one hour for dinner, Saturdays eight to four; minimum wages range from Is 3d to 2s Id per hour according to the character of cargo handled; preference to unionists is granted, provided unionists as qualified as non- >' unionists are available. One clause provide*: "The union shall do all in it' power to prevent any strike by any of the workers affected by this award, and if any strike -.hall occur, in which any member of the union shall lake part, such strike shall bo prima facie evidence that the union has committed a breach of its duty hereunder."
