The milk standard question was. further considered at a conference between the executive of the Auckland Agricultural and Pastroal Association, the Milk .Suppliers' Association', and the Milk Vendors' Association yesterday. The new standard of 3.25 butter-fat was generally condemned as being too high, and 3 per cent, was suggested, while the Government were asked to suspend the new standard until 1909, or until such time as adequate observations had been earned out. It was declared that with the present herds the standard of 3.25 could not be maintained all the year. During the discussion, Mr. J. Mlassey, president of the Agricultural and Pastoral Association, said the Milk Vendors' Association had asked the Milk Suppliers' Association if the- suppliers were prepared to enter into contracts under the new regulations, and a reply had been sent to the effect that the suppliers wero not prepared to enter into new contracts from the beginning of September next under the new regulations. It was decided that the Prime Minister should be waited upon in connection with tile matter. A social gathering tendered by past and present parishioners to Canon Nelson, late vicar of St. Paul's, takes place to-night in the schoolroom. Archdeacon ("aider, Bishop's commissary, will preside. A presentation of an illuminated address and purse of sovereigns will Iks made to Canon Nelson. Mr. Midgley, organist of St. Paul's lias arranged a musical programme, and refreshments will l>o provided.
