THE DISTRICT ROLL.

LARGE INCREASE OF ELECTORS. The annual statutory meeting of the Auckland City Council was held yesterday morning to receive and certify the district electors' list for the ensuing year. There were present: The Mayor (in the chair), Messrs. R. Farrell, R. Tudehope, L. J. Bagnall, A. E. Glover, P. M. Miickay, W. E. Hutchison, and W. R. Somers. The city valuer submitted a report, which stated that for the purposes of eliminating as far as possible all persons' names who had become non-qualified, and enrolling those who had become qualified, six men had been employed. Though every qualifying property had been visited, it was impossible for him to vouch that the roll was absolutely accurate, as time did not permit of a thorough.check. On the old main roll there were 15,403 electors, and on the new one there were 19,123. These figures in each case were exclusive of the supplementary rolls. The roll as submitted was adopted.
