VOLUNTEERING NEWS.
SHOOTING MATCH AT PENROSE. The shooting for the championship belt and shield of the No. 4 Company Now Zealand Engineer Volunteers was held at Penrose on the 14-th and 21st inst. The conditions were' four ranges— and 500 yds, and 500 yds and 600 yds— shots at each distance. A handicap match for trophies was fired at the same time. Corporal Marks won the belt and shield for the third time in succession, and becomes the holder for another 12 months, besides taking the gold medal. Sapper Hastie Avon QuartermasterSergeant McGregor's trophy—a handsome cabinet, and Sergeant-Major Robertson, Corporal Reunion and Lance-Corporal Handle., secured second, third, and (fourth prizes. The following' aw the details of the scoring, which was good, considering the extremelv had weather conditions: —Corporal Marks, scratch. 31 at 200 yds. 25 at 500 yds, 20 at SOOvds, 24 at. 600 yds, total 109; Sergeant-Major Robertson, handicap 3, 26, 23, 27, 18—102; Sapper Ha*tie, 30, 15, 26, 18, 17— 106; Corporal Reunion, 10, 23, 11, 28 21—98: Lance-Corporal Hundley, 8, 26, 19* 26 18—97: Sergeant Dow, 12, 27, 21, 22, 141-96 • Sapper Duffus, 10, 26,16; 22,22—96; I Corporal Butterworth, 10, 25, 22, 15, 19— 01 i. »»PP,er Johnston, 10, 27, 14, Z1*. .14-91.
