The Amateur Swimming Carnival, held at Thorudon baths on Saturday afternoon, was gene rally successful, considering that the weather' was cold and threatening, with a strong changeable wind. Most of the events were well contested. Nelson and Canterbury competitors fairly maintained their reputations. , , The placed men in the 50yds inter-club race were —C. Bryant (Christchurch), 1; A. Allan (Nelson). 2; J. Emerson (Christchurch), 3. Time, 355. /\ }>. Schwartz (Christchurch) won the interclub neatest header competition, file placed men in the sixth heat, Emeirspn, Allan, and Kelly, are Nelson representatives. The New Zealand water polo championship was won by Wellij*gton by four goals to nil, as against the Nelson team, and by two goals to one against Christchurch [H Y TELEGRAPH.OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WELLINGTON, Sunday. Roberts covered tho 100 yds in New Zealand standard time (655.) beating Freyburg by 4tt. Roberta would have probably beaten the standard but for a foul at the end ot the first 50yds. , ...
