WOMAN HACKED TO DEATH.

An Indian woman, named Kalapdai, out of the indentured immigrants, was (says the Fiji Times) hacked to death on February 12 by a man named Badal. The labourers in the coolie lines on the estate of Messrs. Elgood and McClure, at Naikorokoro, heard a noise of scuffling in the compartment, where the deceased, and Badal resided. An inspection of the place disclosed a horrible scene. The woman lay on her bod in a"pool of blood, with fearful wounds on the face, head, and arms, the right arm being severed from the body. Badal was found to be miss ing, but the matter being reported to thepolice he was arrested at Suva, and even'' tuallv admitted his guilt. The cause < the murder is attributed to jealousy.
