A NEW SCOW.

A fine-looking scow will be launched from the building yards of Mr. G. T. Niccol, Customs-street West, on Saturday. The new vessel, which is to be named the Kiatia, is 65ft long and 18ft 6in broad, with a draught of 4ft, and will carry about 40 tons of cargo. The vessel, which is ketch-rigged, has been very strongly constructed of the best heart of kauri, all the timber being of one length. She is fitted with two centreboards. The contract for the rigging and sails was carried out by Messrs. Jagger and Harvey, and all those interested in the building and fitting-out of the scow are to be congratulated upon the result of their labours. The Kiatia has been . built to the order of Captain John Kasper for the local coastal trade. The Kasper Bros., sons of the late Captain C. Kasper, of Matakana, are all masters and owners of vessels running out of Auckland.
