STRANGE CASE OF MONOMANIA
A WOMAN'S SUICIDE, . An inquest was held before Mr. T. Gresham (City Coroner) yesterday morning, touching the death of an elderly married woman named Frances Richards, "who committed suicide by hanging herself at her residence, Brown-street, Pcnsonby, on Tuesday evening. Henry Richards, the husband of the deceased, stated that his wife had been ill for several months past, and fearing the loss of her sight, she bad consulted several doctors on the matter. She had often tlireatened to make away with herself, but little notice was taken at the time of her remarks. Dr. Florence Keller, who had attended the deceased last Monday, said that from an inspection she could find nothing wrong with her sight, but she had formed the opinion that the woman was suffering from photophobia (fear of light) and was a monomaniac on that point The jury returned a verdict of suicide while of unsound mind.
