INVERCARGILL FISHERMEN FINED. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Intbrcargill, Wednesday. Joseph Gough, Thomas Davis, George McChesney, Win, Samson, Fredk. Geo. Stevenson,- and Francis Webb were cliarged yesterday that, on November 17, in the New River estuary, they netted trout without a license, contrary to the provisions of the Fisheries Conservation Act, and this year's amendments. Ranger Friend had watched the men out floundering, and had detected the taking of two trout, which were subsequently found in the boat. McChesney said that he alone handled the trout, and that the others had nothing to do with it. He was convicted and fined £5, with £2 9s costs. The informations against the others were dismissed, with costs, 10s each, allowed to Webb and Samson, two lads. The second charge, alleging the use of a Seine net within a radius of half-a-mile seawards from the mouth rfif the stream, contrary to the Act, was adjourned till after the holidays.
