EDUCATION CONFERENCE.
PROPOSED CENTRAL BUREAU
By Telegraph.—Press Association.—
(Received Jane 4. 9.42 p.m.)
London, June 4. j The Imperial Education Conference closed yesterday, and the representatives of the Education Departments are meeting in private. It was resolved yesterday that a central bureau was essential for the encouraging of the effective and continuous exchange of information between the several Education Departments of the Empire. "
It was further agreed that a complete system of mutual recognition of teachers' certificates was impossible, in view of the variety of local conditions.
A resolution was passed that it was desirable that financial and administrative arrangements be made to enable teachers and inspectors to acquire experience in various parts of the Empire.
