POLICE COURT NEWS.
| ALLEGED THEFT OF MONEY. At the Police Court yesterday, before [Messrs. Joshua Jackson and J. Jamieson, J.P.'s, a young Maori named Heu Heu. Tawbiao was charged with stealing a cheque for £115 16s and £85 in cash, the property of another Maori named Wihiwihi, of Kihikihi. On the application of Sub-Inspector Gordon, accused' was remanded until to-mor-row.
" DRUNKENNESS; Ten persons were charged with drunkenness. James Lovett, a third offender, was fined 30s and costs, or in default seven days' imprisonment. Joseph White, William Betts, James McQuoid, and Richafd Loder, second offenders, were each fined 10s and costs, or in default 48 hours' imprisonment. Three first offenders were each fined 5s and costs, or .in default 24 hours' imprisonment, and another was convicted and discharged;. Rhys Williams, charged with drunkenness, and with committing a breach of his prohibition order, was fined 5s and costs on | the first charge, and convicted and ordered Ito come up foi sentence when called upon: [on the second." ,■:"';-,
