'. • . Waihi, Saturday. An enjoyable social was held in the Miners' Union Hall last night, under the auspices of the local branch of the Liberal and Labour Federation. The dances were interspersed with vocal items. -
At the monthly meeting of the Waihi Miners' Union, held last evening, accounts amounting to £40 13s 4d were passed for payment. These included accident payment £33 3s 4d, and general accounts £7 10s. A good deal of routine business was transacted.' On Monday evening the Waihi Court of Foresters will hold a social hi the society's hall. .This will be preceded by the usual Court meeting. ' -
It is more than probable that the Minister for Education, the Hon. Geo. Fowlds, will visit Waihi during his Northern tour, "which is to commence early during the present month.' ' ' '
There has been no appreciable change today in the condition of the man F. Boyer, who attempted to take his life last Saturday night. • s ■
' In consequence of recent additions to the list of subscribers to the telephone, Waihi will now be entitled to a service between eight m. and eight p.m. daily. The extension of hours,will prove a great boon to business people. '
