Active develops menfc work is being proceeded with. The 1 directors report that the present level on f No. 2 reef ,is to be continued and crosscuts j j put in east and west to intersect the several s other reefs in the vicinity. A lower level a is also to be put in on No. 2 reef, under - where very encouraging values have been 3 obtained in the past. . ;. > MAY QUEEN. • [BY TELEGRAPH.— OWN CORRESPONDENT.] !* Thames, Saturday. , The St. Hippo crosscut at the May f Queen mine has been extended through s the main slide, and is now penetrating - the country in the footwall, which is of a favourable description, interlaced with mineral seams. A parcel of seven loads of the rubbly quartz from the slide is now being treated at, the battery to ascertain ; its . value. Stoping .operations on the No. J 4 lode at both levels are in. progress, and producing the usual steady supply of ore _ in which a little gold is seen,- and on . winch the battery is' kept employed one shift per day.' In the New Dart, mine the principal work in hand at present is the erection of buildings and machinery at the surface of the shaft. The work is now well forward and should be completed in about another , •week. .
