•FIVE LIVES LOST. . : | By Telegraph.— Association.— [ ' '(Received Juno 2, 4.50- p.m.) New York, June 1. A fire attended with shocking consequences occurred yesterday at the summer residence at Longbranch of: Mr. Walter Schiffer, a wealthy cigar manufacturer. The fire was discovered by Mr. Schiffer, and he and his wife .made brave \ attempts >-; to rescue others; sleeping in the house. .; In these | effort'they both sustained terrible injuries. , ; :. j j Two daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Schiffer, two servants, and a governess, were burnt to death.
